Elmo-Live About Elmo

Tickle Me Elmo is a child's toy that was introduced by Tyco in the United States in 1996.

Its bright red color and its shake and hysterical laugh soon made it extremely popular.

This child's toy is based on Elmo, the Muppet character from Sesame Street.

Not anticipating it's popularity there was soon a short supply of the Tickle Me Elmo toys and it became a lot more expensive than its original $28.99 price as people faught to find one for their child.

One clerk in a retail store even suffered multiple injuries as a "elmo maniac" crowd stormed the store in search of the Elmo toy.

Several other Tickle Me products hit the market the next year but never achieved the success of Tickle Me Elmo.

In 2006 the new TMX Elmo doll was announced at the American International Toy Fair. The Tickle Me Extreme rolls around on the floor laughing begging his tickler to stop. In addition, the TMX version can entertain your child in a lot of other ways.

In 2007 Mattel released the eXtra Special Edition of Elmo. This Elmo has hidden surprises and a website has been provided by Mattel with rhyming clues to help your child find the special messages.

The Elmo collection has expanded to include a large number of entertaining and learning DVDs. Your child can have Elmo help them learn about babies, pets, potty training, their alphabet and all in a very entertaining way.

Elmo is still a child favorite and is much more readily available for purchase than in 1996. Therefore you won't have to risk life and limb to get your child's favorite Elmo toy or DVD anymore.
